CHELSEA MADE €40M MOVE FOR HIGUAIN CLAIM SPANISH MEDIA
- Updated: 2 February, 2012
Chelsea made a €40 million bid for Gonzalo Higuain on transfer deadline day, according to Spanish daily Marca.
Andres Villas-Boas has highlighted the Argentine striker to replace Didier Drogba and made a move to bring him to Stamford Bridge according to the report.
The offer was refused by Real Madrid however as Jose Mourinho sees Higuain as an important member of his squad that attempts to wrestle the la liga title away from rivals Barcelona this season.
Chelsea have been in inconsistent form this season in the Premier League and the continuing poor form of £50 million-man Fernando Torres is a major worry for the London club.
The approach for Higuain could signal that Villas-Boas has finally lost patience with the Spaniard who’s future at Chelsea will be cast into further doubt.
Marca claim Chelsea will resume negotiations for Higuain in the summer.
