Fernando Torres
We’ll just get this one out of the way first. He clearly has not been the same since his monstrous big-money move to Chelsea last winter and his inclusion in the Spanish squad raised more than a few eyebrows.
The highly prolific Roberto Soldado was controversially snubbed by Del Bosque after being in the squad for friendlies against Venezuela and South Korea – much to the Valencia man’s chagrin. Del Bosque’s personal rapport with Torres is significantly stronger, and the coach will be hoping to conjure the same form Tores that saw him score the winning goal in the final of Euro 2008.
