“THE RESULT IS ALL THAT MATTERS” – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has claimed the only thing that matters in tonight’s derby between Real and Atletico Madrid is the end result.

The two sides meet in the weekend’s standout game at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Atleti looking for their first victory over their rivals in 12 years.

Despite the historical advantage enjoyed by his side and their imperious start to the season, Mourinho says he is more concerned with getting the victory: “If you offer me a one-nil or a two-one scoreline right now, I’d take it.”

Speaking in yesterdays press conference, the Portuguese coach also warned his players against complacency and said Atletico would provide a stern test: “They are due a win against us and maybe they will get it tomorrow. If anyone thinks it will be easy fro us – maybe that will make them win more easily.”

Atletico have struggled in recent months, leaving coach Gregorio Manzano under intense pressure, but Mourinho said he admired his opponents and claimed they had the quality to challenge for a top four finish by the end of the season.

Los blancos welcome Argentine winger Angel Di Maria back into the squad for the encounter, but are likely to be without the services of Brazilian midfielder Kaka, whose is suffering a slight injury.

Mourinho hinted he would feature free-scoring Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain in a three-pronged attack, leaving Di Maria having to settle for a place on the bench.

For Atetico, top score Radamel Falcao is doubtful but will under-go a late fitness test.

Diego Costa, Tiago and Antonio Lopez are all unavailable.
