CHELSEA MONITORING MADRID STAR
- Updated: 23 January, 2012
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendes in Spain today.
Both Marca and Globedia claim Andres Villas-Boas is keen on bringing the Atletico Madrid player back to Stamford Bridge, where he spent a season playing under Jose Mourinho in the 2004/05 season.
The reports follow claims made by Sky Sports News over the weekend that the player was being watched by a number of English cubs.
The Portuguese international has played 14 games in all competitions this season for Atleti but is said to be keen on a return to England.
Chelsea are currently going through a difficult period in the Premier League and Villas-Boas is keen to bring some experienced players into his squad.
