MAN UNITED BACK IN FOR SPANISH STAR?
- Updated: 22 January, 2012
Manchester United have renewed their interest in La Liga star Javi Martinez, according to new reports in Spain.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has long been an admirer of the Athletic Club de Bilbao player and has made no secret of his desire to bring him to Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder, who has also been utilised in defence this season by Bilbao coach Marcelo Bielsa, is one of the most sought-aster young players in Spain and has been linked with a move to United on a number of past occasions.
Reports also claim that the return of Paul Scholes for Ferguson’s side is a stop gap until a deal to bring Metinez to Old Trafford can be finalised.
