SPURS JOIN RACE FOR DUTCH INTERNATIONAL
- Updated: 27 January, 2012
Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to be linked with Dutch international Greogory van der Wiel after his proposed switch to Valencia broke down this week.
Harry Redknapp is considering a move for the 23-year-old full fullback according to reports on Spanish site Super Deporte, and is hopeful of securing a deal to bring him to White Hart Lane before the transfer window expires.
Chelsea have also been heavily linked with the player but it is believed Spurs are now in prime position to move for the Dutch international as Redknapp looks to strengthen his squad.
Tottenham would have to pay a reported €15 million for Van der Wiel, who has made 25 appearances for the Netherlands and is one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
