REAL MADRID LINKED WITH WOLVES STRIKER…?
- Updated: 15 January, 2012
Our friends over at The People have run and amazing story today which claims Real Madrid are chasing Wolves ‘star’ Steven Fletcher.
They report representatives of the Spanish league leaders have travelled over to Wolverhampton on TWO separate occasions in recent weeks to monitor the progress of the 24-year-old striker.
Now I know they say that anything is possible in football but surely Tom Hopkinson was having a bet with somebody when he penned this little ‘exclusive’?
While it is true Los Blancos looked at the player six years ago following an impressive under 19 European Championships with Scotland, there is little truth in any interest today.
Hopkinson goes on to claim the Scottish hit man would go into the club’s B team, Real Madrid Castilla and then into the first team depending on his performance.
When you consider the attacking talent available to Jose Mourinho, that seems highly unlikely indeed..
In fact, beyond a senior squad which includes the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain, Jose Maria Callejon, and Angel Di Maria, Real Madrid also have a fantastic pool of attacking talent in their B team, who are also all younger than Fletcher – Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez to name but two.
I am sure Steven Fletcher is a very good player and he probably also believes he could hold his own in Spain, unfortunately however, it isn’t going to happen at Real Madrid.
Time for a reality check.
