CHELSEA CLOSE IN ON TEEN STAR AS COURTOIS STAYS IN SPAIN
- Updated: 11 February, 2012
Chelsea are on the verge of a deal to bring a 16-year-old goalkeeper to Stamford Bridge, which would enable Thibaut Courtois to remain at Atletico Madrid.
Andres Villas-Boas allowed Courtois to leave for Spain on a year-long loan almost immediately after jointing Chelsea last summer and the Belgian keeper has been reported as wanting to remain at Atletico next term.
Now Polish media site Gwizdek24 claim Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal for Morawica Moravia’s young stopper Dominik Dyk, who has been having a trial at the club this week.
Courtois has been in commanding form for Atletico and has established himself as one of the top performers in the country, however Villas-Boas will retain Petr Cech as his number one goalkeeper next season and some reports claim the manager will agree to the Belgian remaining in Madrid.
The arrival of Dyk at Chelsea could complicate the goalkeeping situation as Courtois wants first team football and has made a big impact in La Liga.
