CHELSEA LINE UP HUGE OFFER FOR MADRID STAR
- Updated: 9 February, 2012
Chelsea have again been linked with a mega offer for Colombian hit man Radamel Falcao, this time in English media reports.
Andres Villas-Boas is said to be chasing the Atletico Madrid striker who scored 72 goals in 87 games for Portuguese side Porto, and the Daily Star claim Chelsea have had representatives at the Vicente Calderon during the past three months ready for a £50 million summer swoop.
Falcao has been in blistering form at Atleti this season and has scored 20 goals in 30 appearances for the Spanish club.
Meanwhile Chelsea are looking to bolster their forward line as €55 million signing Fernando Torres continues to struggle in England following his move from Liverpool last year.
Villas-Boas also faces the prospect of losing talismanic striker Didier Drogba, who is now 33-years-old and is rumoured to be looking for a move in the summer.
The story first surfaced in Spanish media reports last month but now seems to be gaining momentum in Britain as well.
Falcao would attract huge interest if Atletico were to sell, but Chelsea’s financial muscle could prove key in any bidding war to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
