CITY BRACED FOR £30M DAVID SILVA RAID
- Updated: 9 February, 2012
Manchester City are preparing themselves for a £30 million offer from Real Madrid for David Silva according to English media reports this evening.
Roberto Mancini’s City are currently top of the Premier League and on course for their first league title since 1968, with Silva one of their most consistent performers this season.
This form for Mancini’s men has led to Real Madrid’s interest according to the Daily Star, who claim the Spanish side will make the offer when the transfer window re-opens during the summer.
Silva was speaking at a Manchester City supporters club event and told of his initial difficulties when he moved to Manchester, saying: “It’s hard on you physically in England but I have settled now and I think I am playing well. Our ambitions here are high here and although haven’t won the Premier League title we’re now a bigger team achieving success.”
Silva has been rumoured with a move back to Spain but laughed off suggestions that he wanted to better than Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, saying: “No, I don’t aim to be better than Messi.
“I aim to win more trophies with my team and to improve myself – not to be the equal of Messi.”
Stories appeared in Spanish newspapers Marca and As last week but were quickly denied by Manchester City who are under no pressure to sell any of their prized assets at the Etihad Stadium.
