MANCINI WANTS £34M SPANISH STAR
- Updated: 14 February, 2012
Manchester City have been linked with a move for Spanish international Javi Martinez, according to English newspaper the Daily Mail.
Robert Mancini has highlighted the Athletic Bilbao midfielder as a key target for city’s summer spending but will face a battle in getting the 23-year-old to the Etihad Stadium should he leave San Mamés.
The highly-rated Martinez has already been linked with a switch to Real Madrid and could cost any suitors £34 million according to the newspaper.
The Spanish international, who can also play in central defence, has had an outstanding season for the Basque club and has been instrumental in their push for a Champions League spot in la liga.
Manchester City are currently top of the Premier League and Mancini is on course to guide the blues to their first title in 44 years.
