SPURS AND ARSENAL JOIN HUNT FOR BARÇA TARGET

London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set for a summer transfer battle with Spanish giants Barcelona over the signature of one of the hottest young talents in Italian football, according to press reports today.

Both Harry Redknapp and Arsene Wenger have sent scouts to Italy to watch 21-year-old Belgian international Omar El Kaddouri, with Spurs said to be especially keen to bring the player to White Hart Lane.

Arsenal however have also now stepped up their interest in the Brescia player following their recent poor form, and Wenger has highlighted midfield as an area he would like to strengthen during the summer transfer window.

Spanish media site Merca Futbol suggest it could be a three-way fight for the midfielder however, with Barcelona also said to be watching the youngster.

El Kaddouri has played 20 Serie B games this season but is said to be eyeing a move away from Italy, with both Arsenal and Spurs ready to make their move should he become available.
