TEVEZ WAS A LATE TARGET FOR LA LIGA SIDE
- Updated: 6 February, 2012
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez was the target of a late transfer bid by Spanish side Espanyol according to claims in today’s SPORT.
Roberto Mancini has told Tevez he will never play for City again following his refusal come on as substitute against Bayern Munich earlier this season, and the player further alienated himself by fleeing to Argentina without permission from the Etihad Stadium club.
Tevez was linked with a move to Serie A giants Inter and neighbours Milan but the deals fell through during the latter weeks of the transfer window.
With Tevez desperate to move and City adamant he will never play at Eastlands again, Catalan daily SPORT claim Espanyol made enquiries about bringing him to La Liga.
It is understood the player wants a switch to Italy however, and the Spanish club’s approach was rebuffed.
Espanyol missed out on the signing of number one target Mounir El Hamdaoui before turning their attention to Tevez.
Reports in yesterday’s English media also claim that Manchester City are in talks with Russian clubs over a possible deal for Tevez.
