UNITED IN POLE POSITION TO SIGN SPANISH STAR
- Updated: 22 February, 2012
Manchester United lead the race to sign Spanish midfielder Javi Garcia say reports in Portugal and Spain.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a move for the former Real Madrid man and both A Abola and Fichajes.net claim United are in the driving seat to bring the player to Old Trafford during the summer.
Garcia has been in fantastic form for Benfica this season, which has lead to increased speculation that the 25-year-old will leave Portugal at the end of the season.
United lead the race to sign the defensive midfielder and are also rumoured to be planning a swoop for his Benfica team mate, Nicolas Gaitan.
Ferguson has made no secret of his desire to strengthen the United squad and reports claim Old Trafford officials have already approached Benfica with an offer that could be in the region of €30 million both players.
