VAN PERSIE SET TO BE MADRID’S ‘NEXT GALATICO’?
- Updated: 9 February, 2012
Arsenal’s Robin van Persie has become Real Madrid’s number one transfer target as they look for a big name summer signing according to Marca.
Arsene Wenger has been frustrated by recent speculation linking the Dutch international with a move away from the Emirates Stadium, with reports suggesting van Persie wanted to follow former-Arsenal team mate Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.
However Marca now claim the league leaders have highlighted the player as their prime target when the transfer window re-opens during the summer, and could be willing to offer Gonzalo Higuain in any deal.
Higuain has also recently been linked with Chelsea who are currently three points ahead of the Gunners in the Premier League.
Van Persie has been in prolific form for Arsenal this season and Arsene Wenger has said he will fight to keep his prized asset at the Emirates Stadium.
