LIVERPOOL EXIT FOR SUAREZ AS MADRID MOVE IN
- Updated: 13 February, 2012
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is edging closer to a summer move to Real Madrid after lying to officials and undermining the Anfield club according to English newspaper, The Mirror.
Kenny Dalglish was furious after the Uruguayan had told him he would shake the hand of Patrice Evra during Liverpool’s game against Manchester United, only to seemingly snub him during the pre-match routine.
The Anfield boss reacted angrily when questioned on the incident after the game but issued an apology yesterday for his televised outburst.
Suarez was condemned by his manager during the statement and was later also criticised by Liverpool’s managing director, Ian Ayre.
The Merseysiders have stood by the player during his eight game ban for racially abusing Evra earlier in the season but this latest development could single the end of the former Ajax hit man’s time at the club.
Real Madrid are favourites for his signature and are now said to be readying a swoop as Jose Mourinho begins targeting players he thinks would strengthen the squad at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Liverpool fans seem divided about Suarez with a great number still maintaining their support for a player who has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances for Dalglish’s men.
