Chelsea are set to beat Spanish giants Real Madrid to the signature of Edison Cavani after The Sun report the Premier League side have opened talks with the player.
Stamford Bridge officials met representatives of the 25-year-old Napoli striker in London last week according to the newspaper, and Chelsea could be ready to offer £30 million for the Uruguayan international.
Cavani has been linked with Chelsea on numerous occasions in recent months however a number of other cubs, most notably Real Madrid, are chasing the signature of a player who is now one of the hottest properties in world football.
The Salto-born hit man has bagged 26 goals for the serie A side this season and was in impressive form during the club’s recent Champions League campaign that saw them progress to the knock-out stage at the expense of big-spending Manchester City.
The Sun claim City and Liverpool are also interested in Cavani but add Chelsea are in the strongest position and are hopeful they can bring him to Stamford Bridge during the summer.
