LIVERPOOL SET TO BATTLE UNITED FOR SPANISH STARLET
- Updated: 2 March, 2012
Liverpool could be set for a summer transfer battle with Manchester United after reports claim both clubs are showing interest in Real Zaragoza youngster Héctor Otín.
Kenny Dalglish is believed to have sent Anfield scouts to watch Otín play in the Aragon club’s Cadete side and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also said to be interested in the youngster.
The 16-year-old striker is one of the hottest prospects in Spain and El Periódico de Aragón claim a host of English clubs are showing an interest in bringing the player to England during the summer.
Zaragoza currently sit bottom of la liga and are embroiled in a financial crisis which threatens the future of the 80-year-old club.
Liverpool are set to bring a host of new faces to Anfield during the summer and Dalglish is also said to want to strengthen the youth side at the club.
However United’s proven track record in youth development at Old Trafford may prove key in any competition for the youngster’s signature.
