LIVERPOOL SET TO MISS OUT ON SPANISH YOUNGSTER
- Updated: 8 March, 2012
Liverpool look set to lose out on reported target Cristian Tello after the player’s agent claimed contract talks had begun with Barcelona.
Kenny Dalglish is reported to have highlighted the 20-year-old as a potential transfer target for the Anfield club and Liverpool were reported to have sent scouts to Spain watch the player, who has also been linked with Arsenal.
However Tello’s agent Jose Maria Orobitg told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo the exciting youngster looked likely to remain at the Camp Nou and said: “Many European clubs are interested in the boy, and there have been calls from clubs in England, Portugal and elsewhere. However we are now in negocitations with Barcelona.”
Tello has impressed since making his la liga debut last month and it is believed Pep Guardiola is keen to keep the winger at the Camp Nou beyond the summer, when his current contract expires.
Liverpool meanwhile, have also been linked with Tello’s Barça team mates Seydou Keita and Pedro as Kenny Dalglish looks to bring some new faces to Anfierd during the summer.
