MADRID CLOSE IN ON LIVERPOOL AND ENGLAND STAR
- Updated: 6 March, 2012
Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson is a shock target for la liga giants Real Madrid and negotiations may have already begun according to Spanish media reports today.
England international Johnson is now in his third season at Anfield and has become one of Kenny Dalglish’s most consistent performers since arriving from Portsmouth for a fee of £17.5 million.
The 27-year-old players under Madrid manager Jose Mourinho during his time at Chelsea and Spanish site Fichajes.net now claim the Portuguese coach wants to bring Johnson to the Bernabeu during the summer.
The reports go on to claim that Madrid officials may already have been in contact with their counterparts on Merseyside and are confident that a deal could be done for the player.
Dalglish will be loath to let Johnson leave Anfield with the defender seen as an integral part of a Liverpool squad that the Scottish manager hopes to strengthen ahead of next season.
