Malaga continue to impress as Rondon brace helps sink Rayo: Thursday La Liga Highlights
- Updated: 23 March, 2012
The three remaining games of Jornada 29 were played on Thursday night, with some key results affecting both ends of the la liga table.
Salomon Rondon grabbed a brace as Malaga continued their recent good form by coming from behind to beat Rayo Vallecano at la Rosaleda.
The visitors took an early lead in the game but Manuel Pelligrini’s side proved too strong and ran out deserved winners 4-2. The victory moves the Anluz side back level on points with fourth-placed Levante, who have a better head-to-head record.
Sevilla grabbed a much-needed 3-0 victory at el Sardinero, heaping more pressure on struggling Racing Santander who also had Papadouli Diop dismissed ten minutes from time.
The win moves Michel’s side up to 11th, four points behind Espanyol in sixth, reigniting hopes of European qualification.
The Catalan side were also in action last night and needed an injury-time strike from Walter Pandiani to rescue a point at Real Betis, who are now without a win in five games.
MALAGA 4-2 RAYO VALLECANO
RACING SANTANDER 0-3 SEVILLA
REAL BETIS 1-1 ESPANYOL
