PEP GUARDIOLA ‘NOT JOINING CHELSEA’
- Updated: 6 March, 2012
Pep Guardiola has said he will not be taking over as manager of Chelsea following the departure of Andres Villas-Boas.
The Portuguese coach was relieved of his managerial duties at Stamford Bridge on Monday and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona boss Guardiola.
However the 41-year-old dismissed growing rumours that he would be leaving the Catalan club to join Chelsea during the summer and said it was normal that managers were linked with any vacancy that comes up.
Speaking during yesterday’s press conference Guardiola also said: “Villas-Boas seems like a good coach but our job depends on the results of the team and not on our abilities.”
Asked whether he had spoken to Chelsea since Villas-Boas was dismissed, Guardiola joked: “Yes, I talk to them every day.”
