Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has been the subject of an enquiry from Barcelona as the race to sign the Serbian international hots up according to the MailOnline.
Ivanovic is now in his fifth year at Stamford Bridge and played an integral part in Chelsea ‘s successful Uefa Champions League campaign this season, despite missing the Munich showpiece through suspension.
Real Madrid were recently linked to the 28-year-old after the MailOnline claimed the Spanish league champions were willing to pay £15 million for Ivanovic, who arrived at Chelsea four months after current Madrid boss Jose Mourinho left Stamford Bridge as manager.
However it now reported Madrid’s bitter rivals Barcelona have made an enquriy about the Serbian full-back after it became increasingly likely that the Catalan’s prime target Thiago Silva would remain at Serie A outfit, Milan.
It is also suggested Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala are interested in Ivanovic, although it is believed Chelsea do not want to part company with a player who they rate at £23 million.
