RAYO VALLECANO v GRANADA
This could prove to be the big one in the relegation battle. The task is simple for Rayo; win and they are safe – anything less and they are relying on Getafe to stop Zaragoza winning. Granada meanwhile, know they only need to avoid defeat to stop them making a swift return back to la segunda.
It certainly promises to be a tense affair at Vallecas where the home fans have seen their team plummet down the table after a fairly postive start to the season; nine defeats in their last ten games make Rayo the worst-performing team currently playing in the division and does not bode well for such a crucial game. Abel Resino’s Andalucians meanwhile have won three, drew two and lost five of their past 10 games but have been playing some good football.
There is sure to be a fantastic atmosphere at Vallecas but Rayo’s current abysmal form may prove crucial as they try to maintain their place at Spanish football’s top table for another season after promotion last year.
Prediction: Rayo 1-2 Granada
