Liverpool face fight for Real Madrid star
- Updated: 29 May, 2012
Liverpool may lose the chance to sign Real Madrid midfielder Hamit Altintop according to TalkSPORT as they report the player’s agent has met with Turkish club Galatasaray.
The 29-year-old was said to have been targeted by former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish by The Metro earlier this month, however that interest seems to have gone cold following Dalglish’s Anfield exit.
It is now believed the player’s agent Reza Fazeli has met Galatasaray with TalkSPORT quoting a representative of the player telling the Dogan News Agency: “Negotiations are ongoing. I can say it’s going well.”
Former Bayern Munich star Altintop arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu as a free agent last summer after agreeing a four-year deal at the club, although he struggled to break into the first team last season and managed just five appearances under Jose Mourinho.
Reports earlier this month suggested the German-born Turkish international was being eyed by Kenny Dalglish as a replacement for Dirk Kuyt who looks set to leave Liverpool after six years at Anfield.
