Manchester United have been linked with Rayo Vallecano midfielder Michu by the MailOnline.
United scouts have already watched the 26-year-old and Mirror Football reported in March that Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson had sent brother Martin to watch the Spaniard play.
The former Real Oviedo and Celta Vigo player scored an 17 goals in 39 games for the Madrid-based club last season and could be available for £3million, significantly less than the original £8 million asking price.
Michu joined Rayo on a free transfer last summer and went on to play an integral part in Jose Ramon Sandoval’s side as they enjoyed an impressive start to the la liga season. Nine defeats in their last ten games left Rayo on the verge of relegatiomn however, before a stoppage time winner against Granada in the final game of the season ensured dramatic survival.
It is reported that London-based agents DBW have also spoken to several other English clubs about Michu, including Liverpool.
Manchester United meanwhile, were pipped to the Premier League crown on the last day of the season by cross-town rivals City.
