Spurs midfield star eyed by Real Madrid
- Updated: 20 May, 2012
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lukic Modric is among the summer targets of Real Madrid according to the Metro.
Spurs star Modric will consider his future at White Hart Lane after the European Championships, however boss Harry Redknapp does not want the Croatian international to leave the club, meaning it would take a significant offer for any negotiations to begin.
It is claimed Jose Mourinho has made the signing of a new creative midfielder a priority for Madrid, especially as Turkish international Nuri Sahin looks to be heading for a summer switch to Inter after failing to establish himself at the Bernabeu since his move last year.
Modric was linked with a move away from Spurs last summer as London rivals Chelsea made a series of bids from him, however the 26-year-old remained at White Hart Lane and scored five goals in 41 games as the club secured fourth place in the Premier League.
Tottenham will not play in next season’s Uefa Champions League however, as Chelsea’s penalty victory over Bayern Munich in this year’s final gave Roberto Di Matteo side the final English spot in the tournament.
