Barcelona eye German star Klose
- Updated: 9 June, 2012
Barcelona have been linked with a move for veteran German striker Miroslav Klose say Catalan daily SPORT.
New Barça coach Tito Vilanova is said to want to strengthen the Camp Nou forward line and it is suggested Klose, who turns 34 on Sunday, could be on the radar of the Catalan club.
SPORT report German media outlet Daily Bild claiming Vilanova, who recently replaced Pep Guardiola as coach at Barcelona, wants an experienced frontman with Klose certainly fitting that bill.
The former-Bayern Munich hitman is currently under contract at Italian side Lazio, however it is believed he could leave the Rome club in the wake of the recent betting scandal.
Klose spent four seasons at Bayern following a 2007 move from Werder Bremen and scored 24 goals in 98 games for the Bavarian side.
Lionel Messi was leading goalscorer at Barça last season operating in a ‘false 9’ position however the report suggests the new coach would also like a traditional forward in his squad.
