Liverpool face battle for Spanish midfield star
- Updated: 21 June, 2012
Liverpool face competition for the signature of Spanish midfielder Raul Garcia according to reports in Mundo Deportivo.
New Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen on the Atletico Madrid star and the 25-year-old was linked with a £6.5m move to Liverpool by the MailONLINE last week
However MD also report Liverpool face competition from city rivals Everton and Newcastle United who are also said to be interested in the Spanish Under-21 international
Atletico paid Osasuna a reported £9 million for the Pamplona-born player in 2009 although he returned to el Sadar on a season-long loan last term after falling out with Atleti coach Diego Simeone.
Despite scoring an impressive 11 goals in 32 games at his former club, Garcia is set to leave the Vicente Calderon and the Catalan daily claim Liverpool are showing the most interest in the player.
Liverpool were also linked with Real Madrid’s Spanish youngster Alvaro Morata this week by TalkSPORT as Brendan Rodgers prepares for his first season in charge at Anfield.
