Liverpool make bid for Spanish midfield star
- Updated: 9 July, 2012
Liverpool have made a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero according to the Mail Online although it is believed the Spanish champions have rejected the move.
Former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was heavily linked with the Spanish star in January by the Mail Online who suggested Granero was closing in on a loan deal at Anfield.
The 25-year-old remained at the Santiago Bernabeu however and went on to play 19 games as Jose Mourinho’s side clinched their first La Liga title in four years.
Madrid-born Granero is a product of the club’s youth academy and has represented Spain at every level from Under 16 – although he is yet to play for Vicente del Bosque’s senior side.
Granero was sent on loan to fellow Madrid outfit Getafe in 2007 and played over 60 games in a two year staff at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
Liverpool meanwhile, are currently preparing for their pre-season tour to North America as new coach Brendan Rodgers gets ready for his first season in the Anfield hot-seat.
