Manchester United are ready to derail Arsenal’s efforts to sign Real Madrid star Nuri Sahin according to reports in Spanish sports daily, Marca.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be keeping a close eye on the current situation regarding Sahin and could be ready to launch a bid to take the German-born, Turkish international to Old Trafford.
Ferguson is reported to be on the look out for a creative midfielder and Marca claim United will try and sign Sahin on a permanent deal – scuppering Arsene Wenger’s hopes of landing the player on a season-long loan.
A permanent move to Old Trafford may prove difficult however, as both Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez are said to believe Sahin can establish himself at the Bernabeu, where he arrived from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
United meanwhile, are preparing to face Barcelona in Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium on Wednesday night, before Ferguson’s meet German outfit Hannover on Saturday.
