Young Gunners in Spain – More Arsenal kids in La Liga
- Updated: 9 August, 2012
Joel Campbell
Campbell was not featured in the original January report of Arsenal youngsters but his time in Spain means he is worthy of a place in this list. The Costa Rican International has played 14 times for his country and scored six goals, not bad for a 20-year-old.
Arsenal were just one club from a host of top European sides offering Campbell a contract, with Wenger saying: “Joel Campbell has already shown that he is a player with great ability, and has also performed well on the international stage at a young age.”
Last season saw Campbell enjoy a season long loan with French side Lorient, where he scored three goals in 25 appearances. He will spend the 2012/13 campaign at Real Betis.
Future Arsenal first teamer?
He certainly seems to have all the right attributes to make it with Arsenal. His loan term with Betis this season will go a long way to determining if Wenger will think about adding him to his squad for the 2013/14 season.
Arsenal fans are sure to be keen observers of Silva and Campbell’s progress in Spain this season, with the latter seemingly having the greatest chance of establishing himself should his stay in La Liga prove successful.
