Arsenal and Spurs heading for five-way transfer battle?
- Updated: 2 November, 2012
Arsenal could face a transfer battle for the signature of French defensive midfielder Etienne Capoue after it was reported by TalkSPORT that Benfica and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur were also showing interest in the player.
However, according to the same website, Catalan media reports suggest La Liga giants Barcelona had also joined the Gunners in the race for the former France Under 21 captain.
It is now understood Portuguese side Benfica are among those monitoring Capoue, with Spurs and Seria A outfit Inter also keeping tabs on the highly-rated 24-year-old.
Capoue was a youth player at Angers before signing professional terms with Toulouse in 2005 and has since played over one hundred games for the club located in the South-West of France. The versatile Capoue can also play in defence.
Reports suggest the player is valued at around £17 million.
