LIVERPOOL EYE REAL MADRID STAR
- Updated: 18 February, 2012
Liverpool are monitoring the situation of German international Sami Khedira at Real Madrid, according to Spanish media reports.
Kenny Dalglish is said to have targeted the player and website Fichajes.net claim he hopes to persuade the midfielder that his future lies at Anfield.
Khedira has played 18 league games for Jose Mourinho’s side this season but was said to be furious when his coach publicly blamed him for the shock defeat Madrid suffered against Levante earlier in the season.
The 24-year-old has been an influential part of Mourinho’s side when he has played this season, and seemed to have put his grievances with his coach to one side as Real Madrid opened up a 10 point gap over Barcelona last weekend.
However it is believed he could still be on his way out of the Bernabeu during the summer, with Manchester United also said to be showing an interest in the player.
Speculation mounted this week when Khedira’s German girlfriend, Lena Gerke told reporters the player will be playing for an English club next year.
Liverpool currently lie seventh in the Premier League, 21 points behind leaders Manchester City and Kenny Dalglish is already targeting players to strengthen the Anfield squad for next season.
