UNITED LINE UP DOUBLE LA LIGA SWOOP
- Updated: 28 February, 2012
Manchester United have been linked with a double La Liga transfer swoop, according to media reports from Spain today.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has highlighted Martin Caceres and Adil Rami as the men he wants to strengthen his Old Trafford back line according to Fichajes.com, and could be ready to make a summer move for the defenders.
Sevilla’s Caceres is currently on loan at Serie A side Juventus and was linked with a move to United’s rivals Liverpool yesterday, while Rami has had a magnificent first season in Spain since joining Valencia from Lille last summer.
The French international arrived at the Mestalla in June for a reported fee of around £8 million and has been one of Unai Emery’s star performers this year, helping Valencia consolidate third place in the league and a place in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Ferguson was first alerted to Rami while the defender was still playing for Lille but decided against a move to bring him to United.
However Rami’s form this season has forced a re-think by the United manager and he is now said to be readying a summer move to bring him to Old Trafford.
