DALGLISH AND MOURINHO BATTLE FOR SERIE A STAR
- Updated: 29 February, 2012
Liverpool target Marek Hamsik is also now on the transfer radar of Real Madrid say media reports from Italy today.
Kenny Dalglish has tracked the 24-year-old Napoli midfielder for a number of months and Liverpool were recently said to be preparing a summer move for the Slovakian international
However reports in today’s Corriere della Sera claim Jose Mourinho wants to bring Hamsik to Madrid, should he stay at the club past the end of the season.
Hamsik is currently one of the most sought-after players in Europe and has been linked to a host of clubs, although Liverpool had seemed to be favourites should Napoli agree to sell their prize asset.
The news that Mourinho is interested in the player may lead to a bidding war between any would-be suitors and recent reports suggest the player will not be allowed to leave Napoli for less than €26 million.
Dalglish has highlighted a number of players he wants to bring into his squad during the summer, and Hamsik’s Napoli team mate Edinson Cavani is also said to be on the Liverpool wish list.
