The Turkish FA’s decision to absolve Galtasaray of all involvement in match fixing has sparked a fresh attempt from the champions to try and agree personal terms with Hamit Altintop, the only major obstacle to his return to Turkey. However the midfielder could also end up at Bundesliga side Hamburg. (Marca)
The club have asked Manchester City to name a price for their midfielder David Silva, convinced that this is the only stumbling block to signing a player who they believe is keen on a move to the Spanish capital. (AS)
Seventeen year old Jose Rodriguez, who nearly signed for Arsenal last summer, has had a 5m euro release clause inserted into his contract and told that he will feature regularly for RM Castilla in next season’s Segunda División campaign. (AS)
Mesut Ozil has begun legal action against an unidentified Twitter account whose racist owner has suggested that he has no right to represent the German national side because of the origins of his name. Ozil was born in Gelsenkirchen in north western Germany to Turkish parents. (Marca)
Barcelona
Free agent Jose Bosingwa has offered himself to ‘los azulgrana’, despite having offers from two Serie A clubs. The Portuguese full back was told last month by Chelsea that they would not be offering him a new contract. (Mundo Deportivo)
Goalkeeping coach Juan Carlos Unzué has left the club to become the new coach of Racing de Santander. (various)
Three young players have been linked with a move to Barca B over the summer. Guinean teenagers Agostinho Cá and Edgar Lé are currently on Sporting Lisbon’s books, whilst legendary striker Romario has suggested that his 18 year old son Romarinho is also close to linking up with the ‘filial’. (Sport)
Carlos Puyol has resumed light training after his knee operation last month, in a bid to be fully fit in time for the start of the club’s pre season in mid July. (Sport)
The first three friendlies of that pre season programme have now been confirmed. ‘Los cule’ will begin on 24th July with a game in Hamburg to celebrate the German club’s 125th anniversary, followed by a match four days later against a Moroccan Select XI in Tangiers. The following week, on August 4th, they will contest the inaugural Trofeo de Paris against PSG in the Parc des Princes. (Sport)
