Liverpool linked with Spanish hitman

English side Liverpool are weighing up a move for Real Madrid’s young striker Alvaro Morata according to reports from TalkSPORT.
Liverpool, who recently appointed Brendan Rogers as successor to Kenny Dalglish in the Anfield hotseat, are said to have expressed an interest in the 19-year-old striker who was also linked with Premier League outfit Arsenal in January by Mirror Football.
Madrid-born Morata starred for Real Madrid Castilla last season and scored 17 goals to help fire his team in to the second tier of Spanish football for the first time in six years.
This impressive form led to reported interest from Wigan Athletic in January, although Jose Mourinho is said to have pulled the plug on any deal.
It is claimed Liverpool would face competition for the player from Newcastle United and big-spending QPR, who are said to be willing to offer Morata £30,000-per-week in an effort to tempt him to Loftus Road.
Liverpool endured a frustrating campaign last season as a lowly eighth-placed finish led to former Anfield legend Dalglish exiting the club despite guiding them to two domestic cup finals.
A number of Liverpool players are currently on international service with England at the European Championships and the impressive form of captain Steven Gerard, full-back Glen Johnson and striker Andy Carroll will delight new Anfield boss Rodgers and fans of the Merseyside club as they look ahead to a new season.
