Liverpool tracking Barcelona star
- Updated: 29 June, 2012
Liverpool are watching developments at Barcelona as Dutch international Ibrahim Afellay looks set to discuss his future at the club report TalkSPORT.
Afellay was linked with the Anfield club by Mirror Football before joining Barcelona two years ago and now TalkSPORT claim Liverpool are again eyeing the player as he seeks showdown talks with new Barca coach Tito Vilanova..
It is claimed Afellay wants to meet Pep Guardiola’s former assistant to discuss his plans for the new season, with Tottenham Hotspur also said to be showing interest.
The 26-year-old joined the Catalan giants from Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven in 2010 but has been hampered by a string of injuries which have restricted his playing time in La Liga.
Afellay returned to action earlier this year however and was part of the Netherlands squad that were eliminated in the group stage of Euro 2012 two weeks ago.
Liverpool meanwhile are preparing for their first season under new coach Brendan Rodgers, as the former Swansea City coach looks to improve the Anfield clubs eighth placed finish under Kenny Dalglish last term.
