Real Madrid
Luka Modric has told his agent that the only club he wishes to join is Real Madrid, but that he wants the situation resolved before pre-season training starts for him at Tottenham on July 18th. (various)
‘Los merengue’ have signed 16 year old striker Gabri Salazar from neighbours Rayo Vallecano. Salazar scored 24 goals in 30 games for his youth team last season. (AS)
Kaká seems likely to be staying with Madrid, with none of the three clubs who have expressed an interest (AC Milan, Paris St Germain and Guangzhou Evergrande) keen on paying the €25 million transfer fee which the club are seeking. (AS)
Having banked €5 million from the sale of RM Castilla full back Dani Carvajal to Bayer Leverkusen, reserve team star striker Joselu may yet add another €8 million to the transfer kitty, with Hoffenheim ken to sign him. (Marca)
However despite having just one year left in his contract and having been used sparingly last season, Esteban Granero seems unlikely to be leaving this summer, after a bid from an unnamed English club was rejected. (Marca)
Barcelona
The departure of Seydou Keita to China this weekend was hastened by a change in Spain’s tax laws, which meant that next year he would have paid nearly half his salary to the Inland Revenue. (Mundo Deportivo)
Keita’s exit makes the signing of Javi Martinez even more of an attractive option, given that he can play at the back or in midfield, the two areas in which Barca are now looking to strengthen. However ‘los azulgrana’ remain unwilling to pay the €40 million contract release fee which Bilbao are demanding. (Mundo Deportivo)
Young winger Cristian Tello has reiterated that he has no desire to leave the club, despite rumours linking him with a move this summer. (various)
Former Barca star Deco believes that a combination of Lionel Messi and Neymar up front would be ‘perfection’. (various)
Many of the club’s current and former stars spent yesterday at Tamarit Castle, an hour south of Barcelona, where Andres Iniesta married long term girlfriend Ana Ortiz. (various)
